Small Shifts Collection Winter 2020-21
Dear Friends,
A single leaf went red in September. It was the first leaf to turn out of the billions of leaves. It was a small shift signaling to the others: change is coming. Change is a collection of small shifts.
Small shifts are made by the listeners and observers who turn their witnessing into action.
Registering a single voter is a small shift that creates change when it’s millions of people registered. Millions of people responding, thinking, and acting in community, like that first leaf calling to the others to join.
With quarantine, the election, and the necessity of affirming, more than ever, that Black lives matter, it has been a year of uncertainty and heartbreak. The adjustments have been drastic, but the things that have and are guiding me through are the small shifts in personal conversations, in listening, and perspective. They are the small shifts in gratitude, in respecting rest, in loving. Small shifts in asking questions, becoming a better communicator and taking political action.
Small shifts change the world.
